#WhatYouCanDo  Video Contest

Create a 1-Minute video that promotes Compassionate Communities!

The New Jersey Psychological Association, along with its local affiliate organizations, are sponsoring a social media campaign for our 2020 Mental Health Awareness Campaign.  This year, the campaign will include recognition of April: Minority Health Month; May: Mental Health Month; June: LGBTQ Pride Month; July: Minority Mental Health Month.  Our theme is Compassionate Communities:  #whatyoucando

A compassionate city is an uncomfortable city! A city that is uncomfortable when anyone is homeless or hungry. Uncomfortable if every child isn’t loved and given rich opportunities to grow and thrive. Uncomfortable when, as a community, we don’t treat our neighbor as we would wish to be treated.” ~ Karen Armstrong, Founder of the Global Movement, The Charter for Compassion

We are looking for New Jersey community members to submit a video no longer than 1 minute that expresses your idea of a compassionate community. What makes a compassionate community? How do you contribute to creating a more compassionate community and world? Where is compassion needed in your community? Where does compassion exist in your community? What is your idea of a compassionate community? How do compassionate communities improve the lives of others?

New Jersey has vibrant and diverse communities and each community has the power to change attitudes and end discrimination. Our goal is to use your message to create awareness and show the importance of compassion and how it affects marginalized populations.
